Soilless Culture Of Strawberry

Soilless Culture of Strawberry

Strawberry soilless culture is a method to cultivate strawberry by using substrate instead of soil. These strawberries have good appearance and high yield, so the economic benefits are good. Moreover, this cultivation technique is very simple and controllable, which is a perfect choice.

The Selection of Substrate

We should choose substrate with strong permeability and water retention.

Our Tenlead Plant Growing Cube is a growing medium made from phenolic foam. It provides a high quality, sterile and inert root growing environment. Hydroponic growing cube provides from 90%-98% air space in between its fibers while still giving excellent support for the plant.

The hydroponic growth cube is sterile and inorganic. Because it does not contain any organic matter, it helps to protect the root zone from harmful microorganisms.

What most important is that it is biodegradable and will completely degrade after a period of time without polluting the environment. Conversely, some products that cannot be decomposed, such as rock wool, will take you a lot of time and cost to handle after planting. We firmly believe that it will be more valuable and expand its market in the future nursery garden work.

Cultivation of seedlings

Generally, robust seedlings with 2-3 leaves are collected in the first and middle of July, and the soil at the root is washed and placed in the substrate. When the new buds grow to 2-3 pieces, cut off the creeping stems and collect them for cultivation. At the later stage, cold water should be added for irrigation to reduce root temperature and promote the bud differentiation. Management should be strengthened to remove old leaves and newborn creeping stems in time to reduce nutrient consumption and promote the healthy growth of seedlings.

Transplanting

The planting period is generally in the middle and late September. The row spacing of the planting trough is 750p, the plant spacing is 375px, and a drip irrigation belt is laid between the two rows.

After transplanting, a small amount of water can be added to keep the substrate moist. At flowering stage, the substrate humidity was kept at 60-65%, and at fruit expansion stage, the humidity was kept at 70-80%. The water temperature should be above 12 ℃ in winter. After the strawberry grows 3 to 4 new leaves, starting to apply the first fertilizer, and then cover the film in time.
